We’ve all heard the same lines for years.
“Physics is important.”
“Understand the laws of nature.”
“Science explains everything.”
“Think like a scientist.”
But here’s the part nobody explains properly:
Physics isn’t locked away in textbooks or laboratories. It’s happening right here, right now, in our streets, kitchens, and bodies, making traffic move the way it does, explaining why hot chai cools so fast, and even showing us why we slip on wet floors during monsoon.
Why Physics Feels Boring Until It Saves You
You’re stuck in Pune traffic and wonder why it takes forever even when the light turns green.
Your phone battery drains twice as fast on a hot afternoon.
You almost slip on wet tiles after rain and suddenly remember friction.
We live surrounded by these forces every single second, but rarely notice them.
This lack of awareness makes daily life feel more chaotic and frustrating than it needs to be.
The Scale Nobody Wants to Say Out Loud
Physics powers everything from ISRO rockets to the brakes on your scooter and the way your body stays balanced while walking. India has some of the world’s best physicists, yet most of us finish school thinking physics has nothing to do with real life. The gap between classroom formulas and everyday understanding remains huge.
Blind Ignoring vs Curious Awareness
Blind ignoring says:
“Physics is only for exams and scientists.”
Curious awareness says:
“Understanding a few basic principles can make traffic, heat, and daily movement feel less random and more manageable.”
This shift changed everything for me.
What I Actually Do Now
I’m not a physicist (far from it).
But here’s what noticing physics looks like in my real Pune life:
I now leave 10 minutes earlier during peak hours because I understand how traffic flow works.
I let hot chai cool naturally instead of blowing on it and burning my tongue.
I charge my phone in the shade on hot days because heat affects battery life.
I walk carefully on wet monsoon floors knowing friction disappears when surfaces are slippery.
When lifting heavy grocery bags, I bend my knees and use my legs instead of my back.
The biggest change?
Small daily annoyances stopped feeling mysterious.
Now I see the reason behind them and adjust accordingly.
Let’s Be Real
You don’t need to become a scientist or buy expensive equipment.
Just noticing a few basic laws can make you safer, calmer, and even a little more amazed by ordinary things.
You can have a normal busy Indian life and still understand the physics that runs it.
What To Do Instead
Notice one physics thing every day (why traffic slows, why things cool, why you slip, etc.).
Leave earlier during rush hour knowing how motion and flow work.
Respect the heat with your gadgets and food , shade and patience help.
Be extra careful on wet surfaces during monsoon.
Use your legs instead of your back when lifting heavy things.
Find small wonder in daily things like why the fan feels cooler or why brakes work.
Physics isn’t far away in big laboratories.
It’s happening right here, in our kitchens, streets, and everyday movements.
A Final Note
NOTES FROM THE HEART
P.S. If this one made you look at your daily routine a little differently (and maybe leave earlier for traffic), forward it to a friend who also complains about heat, slips, or phone battery. Physics is everywhere.

Until next time,
Gentle grace. Bold bloom.
That’s it for this Friday.
